Coaching is a conversation with a specific focus - to move you closer to where you want to be in life. A coaching conversation differs from any other type of conversation in that it takes a strengths-based approach, is both future and goal-oriented, is action-driven, and takes place over time. It marks where you currently are and explores where you would like to be. Coaching identifies the obstacles preventing you from moving forward to create a more fulfilling life. In short, coaching is about creating change. Together, we take your natural strengths, set some goals, and figure out the steps required to achieve those goals.
As such, coaching is a mutual and collaborative relationship that champions authenticity, accountability, and trust. Coaching helps you create the change necessary to move you towards your desired result by increasing your awareness, expanding your options, and deepening your trust in self.
As defined by the International Coaching Federation, coaching is "a thought-provoking and creative partnership that inspires clients to maximize their personal and professional potential, often unlocking previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership."
A Coach is a collaborative partner who supports your agenda for change in your life. A Coach listens and asks questions to help expand your awareness, explore your options, and build the trust you have in yourself in order to achieve your goals and maximize the level of satisfaction in your life.
There is no limit to the topics available for coaching. The process works for big picture concepts as well as more specific, concrete scenarios. Coaching takes place to increase your level of performance, strengthen your feeling of fulfillment, or to enhance your learning in some way. Some topics commonly discussed through coaching include, though are not limited to: personal obstacles, health and wellness goals, career changes, job performance, and/or relationships. If there is an area in your life where you feel stuck or where you simply want more out of life, then that is a topic for coaching.
You only need a few things in order to be coached: you need the desire to be coached, the willingness to be fully open and honest about where you are and where you would rather be in your life, and you need to understand the value of investing in you. Sometimes you won't have the answer and that is okay. We can work together to get you the clarity you need.
After a complimentary introductory session to confirm the coaching engagement will move forward, the coaching relationship begins with one 90-minute session. From there, each consecutive session is approximately 45-60 minutes, via Zoom. A complete coaching engagement usually consists of 8, 10, or 12 hours of coaching over a 4-6 month period.
Coaching takes a strengths-based and appreciative approach to create changes for your present and future self. It is a goal-oriented process that is closely tied to your personal values and desires for your life.
